From your very first overnight stay in the city of Bern, you will receive a Bern Ticket for your whole stay, which lets you travel for free on public transport in zones 100/101 operated by the LIBERO Association.
It also includes the famous Gurten funicular, the funicular Marzilibahn, and the elevator to the Cathedral Platform, as well as travel to and from Bern Airport. On your day of arrival, your reservation confirmation can be used as a transfer ticket from the station or the airport of Bern to the Hotel Schweizerhof Bern.
In the main train station, use the exit for the taxi rank. The Hotel Schweizerhof is directly opposite the train station across the street.

Coming from Basle/Zurich/Lucerne drive towards Lausanne/Fribourg on the A1 motorway. Take the exit Neufeld/Bremgarten. At the traffic light, turn right towards Länggasse. At the roundabout (approx. 800m) take the 3rd exit towards Länggasse. Continue straight on for about 1.5Km until the end of the road. At the traffic light, use the left lane and drive towards Zurich/Basel/Zentrum Nord. After about 250m you see the Hotel Schweizerhof on the right hand side, right after the Church of the Holy Ghost. When coming from Geneva on the motorway, take the exit Neufeld/Bremgarten and follow the same directions above.
When you arrive by car, take advantage of our valet parking service. Upon arrival just leave us your car keys and we will take care of your vehicle. Valet parking costs CHF40.00 for 24-hours and is charged directly to your room account. New we are proud owners of our own charging station in case you arrive by electro car.

With its 150-year history the Schweizerhof is the hotel with the richest heritage in Berne. Celebrities like Peter Ustinov, Grace Kelly or Albert Schweitzer stayed here. Following a two-year comprehensive renovation the hotel shines again and radiates an aura of great history and grand style.
Renowned for over 150 years – in 2011 the Hotel Schweizerhof reopened in new splendor.
The Hotel Schweizerhof, which was known as “Hotel Fetzer” or “Zähringerhof” in the 19th century, received its current name by Daniel Vogel in 1859. In 1911 the Hotel Schweizerhof was torn down, rebuilt and festively reopened in July 1913. In 1939 Jack Gauer took over the management of the prestigious hotel. In the following years the hotel was renovated repeatedly. In 2005 the hotel was closed for extensive refurbishments. A comprehensive, two-year renovation started in 2009. Today the Hotel Schweizerhof is part of the portfolio of Buergenstock Selection. With an over 150-year legacy, a glamorous new period has now begun at Berne’s famous luxury hotel.
With passion, commitment and joy, Iris Flückiger, the host and General Manager, together with her team of around 130 dedicated staff, look after the well-being of the Schweizerhof's guests, whether behind the scenes or "on stage".
Things are really humming up on the roof of the Hotel Schweizerhof Bern, especially for some 150,000 very hardworking hotel “guests” – three hives full of honeybees, which have been installed in April 2015 in their new home above the city rooftops.
All 99 of our rooms and suites were designed and furnished by Maria Katsarou Vafiadis, of MKV Design in London. A blend of French charm and English understatement awaits you here.
